Introducing June's newest book,

Colorful Stitches for Over-dye Threads

WHY THIS BOOK, WHY NOW?

The muse for COLORFUL STITCHES FOR OVER-DYE THREADS was John Schattleles, the CEO of Rainbow Gallery. Late last summer, John invited me to become an instructor at The National Needlework Association Trade Show, Winter 2010. "There is so much innovation in the thread division of our industry. We need a spokeswoman and you seemed a logical choice." And so it began.

Along the way I became particularly enchanted with the world of over-dye fibers. I learned that most are green and sustainable and nearly all are produced by small American companies. It became my privilege to tell the story of this magical addition to our stitching palette.

COLORFUL STITCHES FOR OVER-DYE THREADS is a two part book. The first third concentrates on the over-dye story. Who, what, how and why are all considered. Armed with this information, the stitcher will make wise decisions when selecting the appropriate thread. And then the magic can begin once these enchanting threads are drawn through the holes of a canvas.

The majority of the book, however, concentrates on fifty gorgeous new stitches that display the power of over-dye threads. In full color with beautiful and easy graphs, this book will inspire the reader to run to her project eager to fill a needle with color.

The response to this book has been amazing. It premiered in Long Beach of January, 2010. Sales were the best we experienced in the introduction of any of our books. In fact, most shops have already placed second and third orders and the book is only 90 days old! We anticipate going into our third printing later this spring! It would seem that over-dye is magical in the book business as well as the thread industry.
